Regeneration
Photographs 2016

Many houses have been demolished in Southill for the Regeneration of Limerick, resulting in the dispersal of communities and wide open spaces. The young woman pictured above, sits at the disappeared gateway, that once led into her garden and family home, now torn down.

I had only an old iPhone with me the day we went for a walk in 'The Alleys', named for the handball alleys that were once here.
It was then turned into streets of housing, which within a few years, were demolished.
The only clues of the former streets were the street lights, paths and steps that led to front doors that no longer existed.
There may be new housing built here now, several years later, but I'm not entirely sure.
